Council to Weigh New Police Work Schedule

Negotiators for the police union and the city have tentatively agreed on a compressed work schedule for officers that wouldn’t require additional costs, a union official said Tuesday.
The proposed agreement is scheduled for closed-door consideration by the City Council today.
The city had estimated that switching patrol officers to 12- and 10-hour shifts, three and four days a week, would require more officers to be assigned to patrol and possibly cost an additional $25 million a year.
