Ohio State suspended quarterback Steve Bellisari indefinitely after he was charged with drunken driving Friday ahead of two key games for the Buckeyes.
Scott McMullen will start for the No. 25 Buckeyes (6-3) against No. 12 Illinois (8-1) today.
Bellisari had a blood alcohol level of 0.22 percent, said Scott Varner, spokesman for the city attorney’s office. The state’s legal limit is 0.10 percent.
Bellisari, 21, was charged with two counts of drunken driving and a stop-sign violation. Coach Jim Tressel said the senior co-captain was suspended for violating team policy.
