Santa Fe Springs Santa Fe 31, Alhambra 13--Eric Bellinger returned a kickoff 91 yards for a third-quarter touchdown that broke open the Division VII first-round game for Del Rio League champion Santa Fe at Pioneer High.
The first half seemed destined to end in a scoreless tie, but Santa Fe (8-1-1) recovered an Alhambra fumble with just over a minute left in the first quarter. Chief quarterback Danny Alanis hit tight end Jimmy Fuentes with a 20-yard score for a 7-0 lead.
Alanis completed nine of 19 passes for 157 yards and two touchdowns. James Campos rushed for 111 yards in 17 carries for Alhambra (8-3).
