Southland Has Four of the Top Seeds

Four teams from the region were seeded No. 1 in their respective divisions of the Southern California regional for the state girls’ volleyball playoffs, which begin Tuesday.
Santa Ana Mater Dei (31-3) is seeded No. 1 in Division II and will host Bakersfield Stockdale (16-5) in the first round.
Manhattan Beach Mira Costa (29-5) is seeded No. 2 and will host San Diego Scripps Ranch (24-11) on Tuesday.
Defending Division III champion North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake (17-2) earned the top seed in its division for the second consecutive season and will host San Diego University City (15-18) in the first round.
Defending Division IV champion L.A. Marymount (27-4) is seeded No. 1 in its division and will host Kerman (15-11) on Tuesday.
In Division V, Hemet Baptist Christian (23-2) is seeded No. 1 and will start the playoffs at home against Visalia Central Valley Christian (24-4).
In Division I, San Clemente (32-3) is seeded No. 3 and will host Poway (21-6) in the first round.
State championship matches for all five divisions take place Dec. 1 at Cypress College. The winner of the Southern California regional will play the winner of the Northern California regional in the final.
