ERIC CROUCH
Quarterback, Nebraska
After a slow start to the season, Crouch has bounced back with consecutive Heisman Trophy-worthy games. His four touchdown runs against Iowa State gave him an NCAA Division I-A record for quarterbacks of 51. Voters love record-setters.
Season: 97 carries, 540 yards, 10 TDs; 51 of 81, 743 yards, 4 TDs.

KEN DORSEY
Quarterback, Miami
A big day against lowly Troy State would have helped Dorsey, but he can atone for his solid-but-not-spectacular 18-for-30, 299-yard, two-touchdown effort by leading a victory against Florida State next week. In his first game under steady pressure, Dorsey didn’t do as much as he could have.
Season: 70 of 114, 1,166 yards, 8 TDs.
Nextat No. 16 Florida State, Saturday

DeSHAUN FOSTER
Running back, UCLA
If Foster watched USC’s game against Washington on Saturday, he saw the Husky defense can be vulnerable to the run. Even if Sultan McCullough won’t share his secrets, Foster figures to have an excellent chance of doing the same.
Season: 112 carries, 512 yards, 4 TDs
Nextvs. No. 11 Washington, Saturday

REX GROSSMAN
Quarterback, Florida
The Gators appear focused on a national championship and Grossman likewise on the Heisman. A school-record 464 yards passing--he broke Danny Wuerffel’s 1996 mark against Arkansas by two yards--in a 44-15 dismantling of Louisiana State puts him front and center in this pursuit.
Season: 109 of 163, 1,865, 20 TDs
