The Poor Among Us

To the person who complained about the misrepresented villa in France (“Tale of a Vile Villa,” Letters, Sept. 23), saying, “Not even the poorest people in America live like this”: The significant percentage of Americans who are among the working poor would be grateful to have a 20-minute walk to a beach; a yard, even with burnt grass; and furniture, albeit vinyl and torn.
