Disappearing Wetlands
Recently I returned from a trip to Michigan, where I took a canoe ride through a marshland around a creek. I saw turtles, a muskrat, a great blue heron, ducks, marsh grasses, cattails and water lilies. When I came home to Santa Monica, I drove past the disappearing Ballona Wetlands. It’s sad to think that the next generation will never see wetlands if our City Council members continue to allow developers to buy them, foot by foot, until they are gone forever.
