Film Studios Join Forces Over Digital Technology

Seven major film studios announced the creation of an entity to develop technical standards for digital cinema technology.
The effort’s aim is to ensure a high-quality digital movie-viewing experience and to facilitate the deployment of digital projection equipment in U.S. theaters.
Initial plans include adopting technical standards to ensure that competing digital exhibition formats are open and compatible. The seven studios are: Disney, Fox, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Universal and Warner Bros.
