Motorist Gets 9 Years for Killing Pedestrian

A motorist who was drunk when he killed a woman crossing a busy Ventura street was given a nine-year prison term Friday.
Scott Ryan Ramirez, 26, of Oxnard pleaded guilty last month to gross vehicular manslaughter while drunk and leaving the scene of an accident.
On the afternoon of Feb. 14, a pickup driven by Ramirez struck Linda Mary Brandon, 51, as she used a marked crosswalk on Ventura Avenue. After running over her, Ramirez drove away.
