Roberto Guzman, 65; Popular Mexican Film and Soap Opera Actor

Roberto Guzman, 65, the Mexican actor nicknamed “Flaco” (“Skinny”) who was popular in hundreds of films and several television soap operas, died Friday in Mexico City of a cerebral hemorrhage. He had been hospitalized in a coma since Aug. 1.
Born in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico, Guzman began his career as a dancer in the 1956 film “La Locura del Rock and Roll” (“Crazy Rock and Roll”). He worked in a number of comedy troupes, honing his skills as an actor, landing frequent film roles.
One of his most popular television roles was in the soap opera “Maria Mercedes,” which also stars Mexican singer and actress Thalia.
