Jackson’s 8 Touchdowns Lead Centennial, 57-55

Terrell Jackson finished the comeback he started Friday night.
Jackson scored eight touchdowns to lead Corona Centennial to a 57-55 victory over Riverside North in the Division V Championship game at Riverside Norte Vista High.
Jackson scored on a 13-yard run, his third touchdown in overtime, and DeAnthony Hicks followed with a two-point run to put Centennial up, 57-49.
Damon Morton made a 15-yard touchdown reception on North’s final possession, but Jody Johnson intercepted a pass on the conversion try to seal Centennial’s second section title in three years.
Centennial scored 21 points in the third quarter to take a 28-14 lead, but North countered with 21 consecutive points to move ahead, 35-28, with 7:42 left to play.
Centennial got the ball back with just under three minutes left and marched 74 yards in 13 plays, tying the score on a one-yard run by Jackson on fourth down with nine seconds left.
North’s comeback began when it put together an 80-yard drive and cut the lead to 28-21 on a 22-yard touchdown run by Josh Barnett. Centennial running back Terrell Jackson fumbled on the next play, and North’s Damon Morton tied the score three plays later on a 28-yard touchdown reception from his brother, Dion.
North forced a punt and then drove 74 yards to take a 35-28 lead on a 16-yard run by Adam Wright.
