A 49-year-old Ventura man was booked on suspicion of attempted murder for allegedly shooting another man in the cheek during an argument, authorities said Monday.
Police said Rene Lievre went to Michael Marcier’s house in the 100 block of Leighton Drive late Sunday night, and the men were arguing in the backyard when Marcier was shot. Marcier, 39, was taken to a local hospital, where he was in good condition Monday.
Lievre, who detectives say may have gone to the house to collect a small debt, was interviewed at the scene and at the police station before being arrested. A small-caliber pistol was recovered.
Lievre remained in jail Monday in lieu of $500,000 bail, authorities said. His arraignment was scheduled for Thursday.
