Islamic Party in Kashmir Rejects Pakistan Union

In a dramatic about-face, the most influential and hard-line Islamic political party in the Indian-controlled portion of Kashmir announced that it was not seeking the region’s merger into Pakistan.
Jamaat-i-Islami said it has no links with Islamic militants staging terrorist attacks and strikes on military targets. It also hinted it might break ranks with other Kashmiri separatists and consider participation in elections.
