An Oxnard farm worker was fatally stabbed Wednesday night following an altercation at the Mira Loma apartment complex in Oxnard, police said.
The victim was identified by the coroner Thursday as 31-year-old Amador Lopez.
The stabbing reportedly occurred following an argument at the apartment complex at 1600 West 5th St.
Police officials said they received a report at about 8:30 p.m. of a disturbance at the pool area. When officers arrived, they found only Lopez, lying in a grassy area in the courtyard with a stab wound to the chest.
Lopez was transported to St. John’s Regional Medical Center, where he died a short time later, police said.
The attack remains under investigation.
Residents of the 157-unit apartment complex said Thursday they did not know whether Lopez lived there.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Garcia Mortuary in Oxnard. An official there confirmed Thursday that Lopez was a laborer whose family lived in Arizona.
