U.S. diplomats in Fiji are investigating media reports that two of the Sept. 11 hijackers lived in the South Pacific nation before taking part in the terrorist attacks, a U.S. Embassy spokesman said.
State-owned Fiji Broadcasting reported that U.S. intelligence agencies believe two of the terrorists entered the U.S. from Fiji, where they had lived for six months. It did not name the men or the source of the report.
Ted Seay of the U.S. Embassy said diplomats had been talking to Fijian officials about the reports.
