Tangtiphaiboontana in Girls’ Golf Finals

Jennifer Tangtiphaiboontana of Long Beach advanced to the finals of the U.S. Girls’ Junior golf championship by defeating Allison Martin of Bakersfield, 2 and 1, Friday in a semifinal match at Echo Lake Country Club in Westfield, N.J.

Tangtiphaiboontana, 17, a senior at Wilson High, won the 16th hole with a birdie to take a 2-up lead, then made a par on the 17th to close out the match. She will face In-Bee Park of Florida today.

In the quarterfinals, also played Friday, Tangtiphaiboontana defeated Amie Cochran of Torrance in 20 holes. Martin defeated Jane Park of Oak Valley, 1-up, in another quarterfinal.
