Were Rosenbergs Framed?

Ethel and Julius Rosenberg “were systematically framed” (“Turning History Into Chilling Drama,” by Philip Brandes, May 24)? They were “scapegoats”? What nonsense!
Since the fall of the Soviet Union, solid evidence proving the Rosenbergs’ shameful betrayal of the United States doesn’t seem to have registered with playwright Lou Shaw. Shaw, in dire need of right-wing demons and leftist victims, blows right on by the truth in his play and arrives at a lie liberals desperately want and need to believe: that the Rosenbergs were framed by the FBI and the villainous J. Edgar Hoover.
The only leftist cliche missing from this sad monument to liberal gullibility is a scene with Hoover snickering as he twirls a Simon Legree-like mustache.
