Foreign Policy Hindsight

William Bundy (letter, May 30) informs us that President Clinton left foreign affairs in worse shape than he found it. Not true; the so-called experienced members of the elder Bush administration were responsible for handing off all of Clinton’s problems to him. Who was arming Saddam Hussein up until the Gulf War? Dick Cheney. Who stopped the U.S. from getting Hussein out of power?
Perhaps the solving of the Bosnia problem is not to the liking of the “far wrong,” but it certainly is better than what the elder Bush left Clinton. When Clinton was making friends with Russian President Vladimir Putin, the far wrong was all over him. Now it gives accolades to President Bush for doing the same? What the far wrong has going is a better spin machine.
