Recording Firms Win Madster Round

A bankruptcy judge cleared the way for record companies to pursue a preliminary injunction against file-sharing service Madster.
Copyright litigation against Madster, formerly known as Aimster, was automatically stayed in March after bankruptcy filings were made by Madster founder Johnny Deep and two companies involved in the service’s operations.
U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Robert Littlefield in Albany, N.Y., lifted the stay for the limited purpose of allowing record companies to ask a federal judge in Chicago to decide on a pending preliminary injunction motion.
Littlefield noted that the record companies do not want to shut Madster down but want only to stop copyright infringements on the service.
