Dog Owners Charged in Girl’s Fatal Mauling

A Mauston couple whose six Rottweilers mauled a 10-year-old girl to death while she was playing at their home were charged with homicide.
Prosecutors claim Wayne Hardy, 24, and Shanda McCracken, 32, knew the dogs were vicious and failed to take “ordinary care” to protect the girl.
The Rottweilers fatally mauled Alicia Lynn Clark on Feb. 14 while she played with McCracken’s 11-year-old daughter. The dogs were later euthanized.
The homicide count carries a maximum 15-year sentence, prosecutors said.
