Legalization of Gay Marriage Sought

Canadian Justice Minister Martin Cauchon, citing increased support in polls, asked Parliament to consider legalizing gay marriage or a new “civil union” category, which would recognize homosexual unions.
Those are two of four options he asked the lawmakers to examine in a bid to deal with conflicting rulings on whether marriage should remain heterosexual only.
