Sherrill Is Reprimanded

Mississippi State Coach Jackie Sherrill was reprimanded Friday by the Southeastern Conference for publicly criticizing officials.
Sherrill told reporters Tuesday that he planned to present the conference with evidence of mistakes made by officials during last Saturday’s 34-10 loss at South Carolina. The documentation included frame-by-frame photos of disputed plays he sent to Bobby Gaston, the league’s coordinator of officials.
“Coach Sherrill has violated the Southeastern Conference Code of Ethics,” Commissioner Mike Slive said Friday.

Tennessee quarterback Casey Clausen did not practice this week, fueling speculation that C.J. Leak will start against Georgia.... Notre Dame Coach Tyrone Willingham says quarterback Carlyle Holiday’s shoulder injury has improved but would not name him the starter. If he can’t go, Pat Dillingham will start against Pittsburgh.
