A 3-year-old girl was struck and killed Saturday night by the shuttle bus of a nonprofit youth center based in South Los Angeles, police said.
Georna Lewis was hit about 7:35 p.m. as the bus traveled east in the 1100 block of 42nd Street, Los Angeles Police Department spokesman Jason Lee said.
“The bus was letting off a passenger, and [she] apparently got into the street somehow by herself,” Lee said.
The bus driver stopped and began rendering CPR, Lee said, but left the scene to report the accident from another location after being threatened by bystanders, including one holding a gun.
No charges will be filed against the driver, who works for A Place Called Home, Lee said.
