Teen Fatally Shot in Gang-Related Chase

A 17-year-old Los Angeles gang member was fatally shot during a car chase early Saturday in Laurel Canyon, police said.
Luis Hernandez was riding with three friends in a Nissan Altima at Sunset Boulevard and Laurel Avenue about 2 a.m., Los Angeles Police Officer Jason Lee said. Words were exchanged with someone in a Cadillac, and the Cadillac began chasing the Altima north on Laurel Canyon Boulevard.
Several shots were fired from the Cadillac, Lee said. Near Dona Dorotea Drive, the Altima occupants jumped out. Hernandez was shot while fleeing but no one else was hurt, Lee said. Hernandez was pronounced dead at a hospital.
