Warning on Advisories

I am in the travel business, and I found “With a Click or a Call, the Scoop Is All Yours” (Travel Insider, Sept. 8) informative. U.S. State Department country information sheets (www.state.gov/travel) are usually listed as the first source of reference for travelers, but in the case of Ecuador, I have found them overly cautious and outdated. The current posting for Ecuador is dated October 2001.
I would advise travelers to note the date of the posting and compare it with travel advisories from England (www.fco.gov.uk) or Australia (www.dfat.gov.au/travel).
Not only are they updated regularly but they also seem less alarmist.
