Costa Mesa Mayor to Step Down
Costa Mesa Mayor Karen L. Robinson will resign from the City Council on April 15 to accept a recent appointment by Gov. Gray Davis as an Orange County Superior Court judge. Election laws preclude a sitting judge from simultaneously holding another elected position.
“She’s been nice to work with and we’ll miss her,” said Carol Proctor, management analyst for the city manager’s office. “We wish her well. She’s realizing a dream.”
Robinson, 39, was elected to the City Council in 2000 and became mayor late last year. She is scheduled to join the bench April 18.
