From Times Wire Reports
The promoter of the El Cajon Speedway was fatally shot Monday after he answered a knock on his door.
Steve Brucker, 51, died less than two hours after he called 911 to report that he’d been shot in the chest. He was declared dead at a San Diego hospital, sheriff’s Lt. Terry Wisniewski said.
Authorities said a man in his 30s opened fire on Brucker at the victim’s home. The suspect was with a younger man, and both fled in a black Ford Bronco. Brucker’s family has owned the racetrack for more than 40 years.
