Former Executives at Enron Must Face Suits

Nine former executives at Enron Corp., including former Chairman Kenneth Lay and former Chief Executive Jeffrey Skilling, must face lawsuits accusing them of hiding the energy trader’s debts and inflating earnings, a federal judge ruled.
U.S. District Judge Melinda Harmon in Houston dismissed claims against two defendants: General Counsel James Derrick and ex-Enron Broadband Services CEO Joe Hirko. Among the executives who still are defendants are former Enron Chief Accounting Officer Richard Causey and former Treasurer Jeffrey McMahon.
