Crash Kills Girl, 8, Injures Mom, Brother

An 8-year-old girl died Tuesday when her mother’s car and a dump truck collided, police said.
Heida Nix was pronounced dead at Placentia Linda Community Hospital following the 7:40 a.m. accident at Buena Vista Avenue and Berryhill Drive, Brea Police Sgt. Jack Conklin said. Heather Leigh Nix, 36, was admitted to a hospital for treatment of major injuries, while her son, 5-year-old Hayden, was treated for facial cuts and released.
Cause of the accident is under investigation, Conklin said.
