From Times Staff Reports
A 2-acre fire in a park on the city’s eastern edge came within 100 feet of homes Sunday afternoon but was under control within an hour, authorities said.
No damage was reported, said Ian MacDonald, a spokesman for the city’s Fire Department. More than a dozen firefighters, including a helicopter crew, responded about 12:30 p.m. to the fire in Peters Canyon Regional Park near the ranger’s trailer. A park user is believed to have started the blaze, the ranger said, and witnesses were being questioned. The park was evacuated.
