A 17-year-old Stockton youth has been booked on suspicion of homicide after police allege he threw rocks at a swimmer who eventually drowned.
The teenager was booked into juvenile hall on Thursday, Police Lt. Tom Gaumer said.
Roommates of Brian Stovall reported him missing two days before his body was found in the San Joaquin River on July 31. Authorities found the 35-year-old man’s clothes on the riverbank.
“We got info from some kids who were on the levee ... indicating that there were juveniles involved in throwing rocks at him while he was swimming,” Gaumer said. “He basically was out for a swim and that’s when he was confronted by these kids.”
