Dana Quigley birdied two of the last three holes for a five-under-par 67 Sunday and a two-stroke victory over Larry Nelson in the season-opening Champions Tour MasterCard Championship at Kaupulehu-Kona, Hawaii.
Quigley finished at 18-under-par 198 at Hualalai Golf Club for his eighth title. It was worth $250,000, the biggest check of his career.
Nelson, coming off a winless season, had a chance to force a playoff with a birdie on the final hole, but pulled a sand wedge into a greenside bunker and made bogey. He shot a final-round 69. Fuzzy Zoeller shot 70 to finish another stroke back in third place.
