THE role of the critic — HILARY E. MacGregor’s article (“Building a Buzz for Peace,” Feb. 4) brought to light a very dangerous trend in our nation. That is the extent to which the corporate media largely “ignore” any dissent from the increasingly far right views espoused by the Bush administration.
With all of the talk about fighting for “freedom” and American values, it might be a good idea if the American people were given the freedom to hear points of view regarding the proposed war with Iraq that differed from the White House. I fear that the silencing of alternative points of view is getting worse as fewer and fewer mega-corporations own more of our radio, television and newspapers.
