Elderly and Ailing Could Lose Health Services

The San Francisco Health Commission Tuesday recommended $34 million in cuts to the city’s public health system, which could affect programs for drug addicts, the mentally ill and the poor.
Day-treatment programs for the elderly, the mentally ill and substance abusers, along with outreach for the homeless, would all have funding slashed under the plan.
Mayor Willie Brown is looking to plug a $350-million city budget deficit.
