The Lowe down

I am glad to see Rob Lowe move on from “The West Wing” (“The tale of Rob Lowe’s wild ride,” by Brian Lowry, Feb. 19). I personally think he is almost too pretty to be real and certainly does not fit in with the attractive yet flawed, intelligent appearance of the rest of the “West Wing” staff.
I wish Rob all the luck in the world for his new adventure, but I think we will see that he was tolerated in “The West Wing” because of the intelligent lines Aaron Sorkin had coming out of his mouth rather than any interest in watching just another extremely pretty Hollywood creation strut his stuff.

I am disgusted to find out Rob Lowe is leaving. I have discussed the show with several other devoted watchers. We all thought the relationship between states issues and the White House would be explored and dramatized quite effectively through his character’s election to Congress. I guess our demographic -- although educated, high-income and big consumers -- is also gullible enough to think that the best show since “MASH” would continue to be a voice for common sense and real-life issues.
