Sun Microsystems Inc. accused Microsoft Corp. of undermining a U.S. judge’s ruling that the world’s largest software maker must include Sun’s Java programming language in the Windows operating system.
Microsoft’s proposal to implement the Dec. 23 decision would delay its obligation to include Java in Windows by at least nine months, Sun told U.S. District Judge J. Frederick Motz in court papers.
Motz ordered Java’s inclusion in Windows to eliminate a competitive edge he said Microsoft gained when it illegally protected its monopoly for Windows. The judge scheduled a hearing today to consider proposed language for the order.
