Sewage Closes Part of Laguna Beach
Orange County health officials Friday closed 300 feet of Laguna Beach shoreline to swimming and water sports because of a 500-gallon sewage spill.
The ban affects 150 feet north and 150 feet south of Bluebird Canyon Drive, said Monica Mazur of the Health Care Agency’s environmental health division.
The cause of the spill was tree roots partially blocking a sewer line, she said.
Crews collected most of the sewage and returned it to the system, Mazur said.
The ban will remain in effect until water quality improves, Mazur said.
