I was surprised that in Elizabeth Jensen’s lengthy look at academic studies of television (“TV Gets Its PhD,” May 15), she did not mention professor Robert J. Thompson of the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University.
He and his program have been studying television seriously for many years.
He is also the general editor of the Syracuse University Press Television Series, which probably publishes several of the over 40 books MIT professor David Thorburn says in the article are on his syllabus.
