State’s building permits on the rise

Building permits in California for new single-family homes rose 8.2% in March from February and 25.8% from a year ago, according to the Construction Industry Research Board in Burbank. Permits for apartments fell month-to-month but rose 57.5% from last year.
Nationally, spending on all new construction fell 1% in March, the Commerce Department said.
