Many Kids Need Mentors to Listen, Care

Re “Too Many Boys and Too Few Big Brothers,” Aug. 17:
Thank you for highlighting the need for mentors. Too many young men and women feel like Diego Herrera: tired of the challenges they face and longing for someone to listen and care.
In Orange County, there are hundreds of children on waiting lists for mentors. These children come from various backgrounds but are united in their need for someone to give them extra time and attention.
You can be this person. Mentoring makes a difference!
