Bryant Defense Weighs Request

Kobe Bryant’s attorneys Friday asked for more time before responding to a request by a hospital that they destroy medical records mistakenly given them.
The records are of a visit to Valley View Hospital in Glenwood Springs, Colo., by the 19-year-old Eagle woman who has accused him of sexual assault. The visit occurred before her June 30 encounter with Bryant in a hotel room.
As part of the customary exchange of evidence, prosecutors gave the defense medical records from Valley View detailing the woman’s examination after the alleged rape. Records of the woman’s earlier hospital visit were inadvertently attached.
In a court filing, Bryant attorney Pamela Mackey said a response could be filed by Oct. 27, a week later than Judge Frederick Gannett had requested. An attorney representing the hospital didn’t object to the extension.
Gannett is expected to rule Monday on whether the case will go to trial.
