Death Toll in Prison Fire Rises to 94

The death toll in a fire that raged through a prison near the Saudi capital, Riyadh, rose to 94 as relatives of inmates waited outside the gates of the facility to learn the fate of their family members.
Authorities initially said that 67 people had been killed and that 23 suffered from smoke inhalation in Monday’s blaze. It took about three hours for firefighters to contain it.
The cause appeared to be an electrical short-circuit.
