Fetus Now Legally Has a Separate Identity

Re “Bush Signs Anti-Violence Law That Extends Into the Womb,” April 2: My commendations to President Bush for signing the fetus rights bill. Unfortunately, it doesn’t require a mental giant to predict that mega-liberals (Sens. John Kerry, Dianne Feinstein, Barbara Boxer) will condemn Bush for signing it. It should be known that California has a similar law to the one Bush signed, yet I hear no one crying foul when that law is used to prosecute Scott Peterson for the murder of both Laci Peterson and her unborn baby.

If a fetus (at whatever age) is now considered a human being as a result of the new law signed by the president, should not he or she automatically qualify for a tax deduction? Won’t we need to change our tax forms to reflect a new category of dependent?
