More than 2,500 troops and other mourners packed a church in Killeen to honor seven Ft. Hood soldiers killed when their helicopter crashed Monday 30 miles from the base after apparently striking cables supporting a TV transmission tower.
“We honor them not to dwell on our grief, but to remember their courage,” said Maj. Gen. James D. Thurman, commander of the 4th Infantry Division.
The victims included six soldiers who had returned home after serving in the Iraq war.
