Deal Reached to Open Winter Homeless Shelter

After weeks of disagreement, officials from the county and the cities of Los Angeles and Santa Clarita approved a plan Friday to put a winter homeless shelter in a county-owned flood-control maintenance yard in Santa Clarita.
Officials vowed to open a 40-bed shelter at the site on Centerpointe Parkway by Christmas.
Santa Clarita officials had considered busing its homeless into Los Angeles.
