Suspect Allegedly Drags Police Officer 100 Feet

A rookie patrol officer sustained moderate bruises and contusions Thursday night when the driver of a pickup held the female officer from his driver’s side door and dragged her an estimated 100 feet, officials said.
Officials gave this account of the incident: Officer Katie Mendonca stopped the driver, Michael Angel Garcia, 21, of Riverside for driving without his lights on. Garcia refused to leave his vehicle and grabbed Mendonca.
A second officer, Daniel Floyd, fired one round into the truck’s back window; Garcia then dropped Mendonca before fleeing.
Garcia was later arrested at his home, authorities said.
