Nine members of a powerful criminal gang have been charged with homicide in connection with an attack on a public bus that left 28 people dead, Honduran officials said.
The investigation has focused on suspected Mara Salvatrucha gang member Alexis Ramirez, 23, who police said was captured shortly after the attack driving a car, the interior of which was stained with blood. They said he had two assault rifles, two handguns and ammunition.
Authorities arrested the eight others during a major sweep in the days after the attack, which occurred on the outskirts of the northern city of San Pedro Sula.
