Israeli Soldier Held in Gaza Shooting

JERUSALEM — An Israeli soldier has been arrested for shooting and critically wounding a British man in April in the Gaza Strip, the Israeli military said Wednesday.
Tom Hurndall, a 22-year-old university student, was shot in the head in the Rafah refugee camp while with the International Solidarity Movement, a pro-Palestinian group whose activists offer to serve as buffers between Israeli soldiers and Palestinians.
Hurndall, who is in a vegetative state, was transported to London and is still on life support.
On Oct. 29, a family spokesman said doctors believed that “the quality of life is so low” that they were unsure whether it was right to keep him on life support.
A military spokeswoman said the soldier, who was not identified, was arrested Tuesday.
