Former CHP Officer Is Denied Parole

A parole board Wednesday denied parole to former California Highway Patrol Officer Craig Peyer, who is serving a sentence of 25 years to life for the 1986 traffic-stop murder of a San Diego State University student.
The next parole hearing for Peyer, 54, was set for 2008. Peyer, a 13-year veteran of the CHP, was convicted of strangling Cara Knott, 20, and dumping her body from a freeway bridge.
