Congress OKs Funds for Flood-Control Project

Residents who live along the Petaluma River are glad to see more money from Congress to finish the Petaluma River Flood Control Project.
With the recent appropriation of $7.3 million, the remaining work on the 22-year effort -- removal of two railroad trestles over the river -- is expected to be completed by fall 2005.
The final stage of the work, which began in 1995, will cost approximately $40 million by the time it is finished.
